Our mission at the KU ADRC is clear: We exist to improve the lives of patients and families on their dementia journey by eliminating Alzheimer's disease through treatment and prevention. Bringing that mission to life requires diverse input and community engagement; we will not solve this puzzle alone, but we will solve it together.

With effective treatments and preventions, Alzheimer's disease is curable. The work we do in labs, clinics, gyms, and kitchens, along with the support resources we provide, advances the cause and moves us closer to a cure.

Dementia

As Parkinson's disease progresses, individuals living with PD may experience more significant memory and thinking challenges, sometimes referred to as Parkinson's disease dementia or dementia with Lewy bodies. This dual impact of movement and cognitive impairments can create considerable difficulties, making the dementia journey particularly challenging. It can even restrict a person with Parkinson’s ability to engage in social settings and carry out basic daily activities. For those seeking dementia care and support resources, it's crucial to reach out for help.

The Little Book for Alzheimer's Caregivers

About Us – Rosalynn Carter Institute

The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers was created grounded in the philosophy that it is crucial to prioritize family caregivers beyond the specific issue or health condition of those in their care.

Nearly 40 years ago, Mrs. Carter’s visionary leadership inspired us to remain steadfast to see family caregivers, those in our lives who are often the unseen. Family caregivers are rarely the focus of policies or systems, creating immense strain and lack of support for this universal issue.
